The New England Revolution have signed 29 year-old Centerback Claude Dielna from a loan spell at Romanian club Dinamo București. The Veteran CB will most likely serve as a mentor to the young defensive core of Antonio Mlinar Delamea, Andrew Farrell, and Josh Smith. Dielna will utilize either one of the Revolution's DP slots, or be purchased by way of TAM (Targeted Allocation Money), and will officially be added to the team pending the approval of his P-1 Visa.
In 162 total appearances, Dielna has 5 goals and 2 assists over 12,628 minutes played in both Ligue 1 and in the FL Championship in England. The signing is a bit of a head-scratcher, as chemistry has been extremely scarce in the team's backline this year, and a lack of production at the forward positions, and lack of depth at both the midfield and outside-back positions have been in serious need of a rebuff. Team President Brian Billelo has promised more signings in the current transfer window, which does bring some hope to the team. Then again, he has been promising us all a new Soccer Specific Stadium for years, so I really don't know what to believe.
Also, here's his highlights from his previous campaign at Dinamo București:
