We all know that Jerry Remy was diagnosed with cancer for the fifth time back in mid-June. He's undergone successful treatments and rehabilitation yet the battle is far from over. Obviously the most important thing for anyone should be their health. The Red Sox, NESN & baseball fans around the world have been really good to RemDawg, in his continuous fight with the terrible disease, pouring out tons of support.
Updating the world via his Facebook page, Jerry has been improving in recent weeks becoming more active on social media. Although many of us hadn't expected to see Remy in the booth until next season, this afternoon WBZ's Jonny Miller announced that Jerry would be calling tonight's series opener versus Tampa Bay. It was a surprising and genuine good story to come out of Boston, especially with AppleGate and the Pats home-opening loss to Kansas City sitting comfortably in our recent memories.
I, personally, cannot wait to hear Remy during the telecast tonight. With the revolving door that is Dave O'Brien's partner this season, it'll be refreshing to hear a familiar a voice, Let's hope Drew Pomeranz and the Red Sox put forth a good effort and secure a win in front of him and the home crowd.
And on that note, I feel confident in speaking for Red Sox Nation in saying, we're glad to see you again, Jerry. And we're looking forward to your full fledged health! Kick it's ass again!
