The Minnesota Twins are set to take on the New York Yankees Tuesday night in the Bronx, a matchup nobody saw coming in the beginning of the year.
The Twins lost 100 games last year, and the Yankees were supposed to be "rebuilding". With the new wild card spot added, this whole postseason thing got a lot more fun. With the emergence of Aaron Judge in April, this Yankees team became very dangerous. The Twins got great seasons from Miguel Sano, Brian Dozier who supplied lots of power. Also, Joe Mauer, mr. loyalty hit over .300 and drove in 70 runs. I believe that the late power surge from Byron Buxton who looked liked a bust up until midseason really gave them a push into October baseball.
The pitching matchup posted above for Tuesday nights game should be a duel. Although you never know what postseason baseball could do to a guy. Could Santana show up looking like the vet with 22 postseason innings under his belt, or does he bend his knee to the Yankees breakout hurler Severino who has never thrown in a postseason game in his life. Santana gave up 31 home runs this year, the most he has allowed since 2012 when he gave up 39. If he is just a little off Tuesday night things could ugly, as we all know Yankee stadium plays like our local little league fields.
Keys to win for the Minnesota Twins.
Keys to win for the New York Yankees.
Score runs, don't give up runs. You know the drill. It's hard to say what could happen in a one game playoff. If I had to put money on it, Id say Yankees 99 out of 100 times. The Yankees cannot afford for Judge to be rattled by postseason play, he needs to have some productive at bats for the Yankees to achieve anything this postseason. Best of luck Minnesota, America is cheering for you.
