By now, we have all heard about Aaron Hernandez's suicide. And like me, I'm sure many of you are not sure how you feel about it. Is it sad? Is it tragic? Meaningless? What? Just what should we be feeling?
First and foremost, let's get one thing out here... Hernandez or not, this is the loss of a young life. So that is something to feel down about, sure. Even more so, it is the wasting of an incredibly, extremely, and unbelievably talented and potential-filled life. Again, feel free to be sad about that. As well as feeling sorry for what his family and loved ones must be going through. All fine and good.
There is a line drawn in the sand here. What you should not feel sad about is the fact that a murdered, convicted murderer, has chosen to leave this world under his own wishes. That is a good thing. Hell, even monetarily - it is a plus for tax payers.
There is no reason to mix the two feelings. You do not have to feel ANYTHING for Hernandez as a whole. You don't need to pick a side. You don't need to decide whether you feel shocked, sad, happy, or whatever. You go ahead and feel it all.
At the end of the day, this world has lost two things all in one...
