Here we go again... Tiger Woods is making a grand return. Boy, I wish I could legitimately get excited. However, I feel like we have been down this road far too many times in the past couple of years.
I don't ever see Tiger Woods getting back to what he used to be. The guy would swing out of his shoes perfectly every single time. Now he has back issues and just doesn't seem to swing the same. His injuries have caught up to him. That is a fact. We have heard "Tiger is back" a number of times, but he never actually came back.
At least this time, I believe Tiger will play, but I am not sure how well. He had the major fusion surgery and it went well, yes. However, the surgery causes stiffness, and that is something Woods has struggled with this entire hurt back era. So the back may be "fixed" per say, but it is not "back" (no pun intended).
I loved watching Tiger dominate with box-to-wire finishes, comebacks in the dark, and long tournament-winning putts, but that is all in the past. And it will stay there.
Tiger is done. He may get back into the game, but he won't be THE Tiger Woods we all used to love.
