The Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League(AHL) are currently in a second round matchup with the Hershey Bears. The Bears currently lead the series 3-2 after defeating the P-Bruins in OT last night.
Danton Heinen leads the P-Bruins in points this postseason with 9 points, 4 goals and 5 assists. Jake Debrusk and Tommy Cross are tied for second place on the team with 6 points each. Jake Debrusk and Danton Heinen have been great for the P-Bruins this postseason and we could likely see Debrusk on the Boston Bruins roster next season. He is a 6’0, 183 pound left winger who has a nose for the net, who is strong on the puck and is a good skater. DeBrusk was picked in the first round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, 14th overall. If he makes Boston’s roster next season he will not disappoint.
Chris Bourque leads the Hershey Bears in points with 8 points, 5 goals and 3 assists. Stanislav Galiev and Christian Djoos are tied for second on the team with 7 points each. Chris Bourque, a former Bruin, is the son of NHL legend Ray Bourque. Compared to his father, he has been a disappointment to the hockey world. He’s playing in the AHL because his time in the NHL did not go well for him. His time in the AHL has been going pretty good and he is helping the Bears win games in the postseason. Bourque scored the OT winner in game 5 and was the hero for the Bears.
All in all, the Bruins/Bears series has been fantastic to watch. It is a great matchup because the teams are so evenly matched. Although the Bruins have seemed to dominate the Bears in most of the games, the Bears are just finding ways to win. Now it is the Bruins time to just find a way to win as they are now in a must win situation for game 6. Players to watch for the next game are Providence’s Jake Debrusk, Danton Heinen, Noel Acciari and Zane McIntyre. The team is going to have to step it up even more and really take it to the Hershey Bears in game 6.
