Patriots safety and 3x Super Bowl champion Patrick Chung is facing charges for cocaine possession from an incident in Meredith, New Hampshire back in June of this year.
Chung's status with the Patriots remains unchanged at this time, but the organization released the following statement via Twitter regarding the news of Chung's indictment: "We are aware of the reports regarding Patrick Chung. We will not be commenting while his judicial proceedings take place."
Chung could face up to a 4-game suspension for violating the league's anti-drug policy if he's tested positive for illegal substances in the past, but no such information has been made public. Chung, who broke his forearm in the Super Bowl last February, has yet to play for the Patriots this preseason.
Chung has played a total of 10 seasons in the NFL, 9 of which have been in New England. It would be a shame if this incident contributed to his time as a Patriot coming to an end.
