In what has already been an exciting MLB off-season, another domino is apparently about to fall. It has been reported that Patrick Corbin has decided to join the Washington Nationals, shocking many around baseball. Especially after the Phillies said they will not be outbid.
Just this last year Patrick Corbin said he would love to play for his home town Yankees, which obviously excited the fan base in New York. As you can imagine they might be a little disappointed right now as their next star pitcher is now heading to the nations capital to join the forces of Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg. It was reported that the Yankees would not go to a 6th year for Corbin which probably sealed their fate, as the Phillies and of course the Nationals had no issues doing so. Here are the details we have so far on his new contract.
If you're a Red Sox fan you're probably excited to read this but I would hold off on the celebrations. With New York missing out on Patrick Corbin I would expect them to be very aggressive in trying to sign Nathan Eovaldi, as well as other clubs. That means his price is most likely going to sky rocket and quite possibly scare the Red Sox away from over extending on their 2018 postseason hero. Stay tuned for more details.
