Charlie McAvoy (BU,NCAA): Charlie McAvoy drafted at the number 14 spot has been a star defenseman for BU posting 16 points in 27 games, and keeping his plus minus at a solid plus 4. Charlie was also named alternate captain for team USA during the World Junior Championship, where he was a rock playing over 30 minutes a night.
Zachary Senyshyn (Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds,OHL): Don Sweeney made a shocking pick when he chose Senyshyn 15th overall in the 2015 draft, but Senyshyn has turned out to be a golden pick as he has posted 44 points in 43 games in the OHL 31 of which are goals. Last season for Senyshyn he posted he had put up 65 points in 66 games 45 of which were goals. Talk about a Snipah.
Trent Frederic (U Of Wisconsin,NCAA): Sweeney surprised a lot of people at the draft taking Frederic 29th overall as he was taken over the likes of Alex DeBrincat, but Frederic who is playing his freshman year at Wisconsin is continuing to surprise people as he has 23 points in 18 games. Did i say that he’s a freshman?
Anders Bjork (Notre Dame,Hockey East): This kid is good, like really good,Bjork was a steal in the 2014 draft as he was taken 146th overall and has put up 38 points in just 27 games. The season before Bjork had 35 points in 35 games, I cannot wait to see this kid in the black and gold.
Jakub Zboril (Saint Marie Sea Dogs,QMJHL): He may have a weird name but Zboril is an amazing defender, Zboril was drafted 13th overall during the 2015 draft and continues to prove he was worth the pick. This season for Saint Marie he has 30 points in just 33 games which is insane for a defenseman, and he has kept his plus minus at an insane plus 19.
Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson (BU,NCAA):Forsbacka-Karlsson was taken 45th overall in the 2015 draft and has 25 points in 28 games 11 of which are goals. JFK has proven time and time again to be clutch player for BU and continues to impress the Bruins front office and the Bruins fans.
All and all if Sweeney can continue to draft like a magician, and the players are developed correctly, then the Bruins will be in fine shape in 3-5 years.
