Post Combine 3 Round Mock (Plus Compensatory Picks 97-107)
The 2017 NFL Combine has come and go, and we saw freakish overall performances (Myles Garrett), a new 40-yard dash record (John Ross III), and lots of concerning medical reports, admissions of guilt, and behavioral issues (name any Alabama player).
Here is another 3 round mock draft, and don’t worry it will not be the last.
No Question at Number 1
We all saw the absolute show Myles Garrett put on at the combine. He is the best player in this draft by far, and is a guy who can be the face of a franchise much like Von Miller is for the Broncos. The Browns would be making one of the biggest mistakes in franchise history by not taking him number 1.
Allen’s Big Drop
Jonathan Allen played like a top 3 pick last season, but recent news that he has arthritis in his shoulders is very concerning, especially the fact that this sort of injury isn’t something that gets better over time, but only gets worse. Having said that, his doctors at Alabama said that his condition did not have any effect on his play while with the Crimson Tide, so while he will drop out of the top 10 for health reasons, he will be a steal for any team looking for an impact defensive linemen in the mid-1st round.
Foster Character Concerns?
I read the recent story on how Alabama linebacker Rueben Foster got sent home from the combine for getting into an argument with a hospital employee and threatening him, and my initial thought was “what a dick.” There aren’t any other stories of Foster having character issues, and with his level of talent, I don’t expect a drop out of the top 10 for him.
Guys who earned themselves some money at the combine:
John Ross III, WR, Washington
Raekwon McMillan, LB, Ohio State
Alvin Kamara, RB, Tennessee
Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford
Chris Godwin, WR, Penn State
Garrett Bolles, OT, Utah
Marshon Lattimore and Gareon Conley, CBs, Ohio State
Evan Engram, TE, Ole Miss
Forrest Lamp, OG, Western Kentucky
Obi Melifonwu, S, Connecticut
Joshua Dobbs, QB, Tennessee
Guys who lost themselves some money at the combine:
Jalen “Teez” Tabor, CB, Florida
Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama
Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma
Zach Cunningham, LB, Vanderbilt
Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU (Just slightly)
Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State (Just Slightly)
Deshone Kizer, QB, Notre Dame
Alvin Kamara: It appears Blount is on his way out of New England, so I say pick up the talented Tennessee back to give some power to the backfield that currently features 2 pass catchers in James White and Dion Lewis.
Jordan Willis: The Patriots need pass rushers, and Willis is a fast one! A 4.53 40-yard dash means explosiveness off the edge.
Chidobe Awuzie: A 4-year starter at Colorado, the Patriots are likely going to need to reload at the cornerback position as free agency looms.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin: With Hightower hitting the open market, line-backer depth is needed. Maybin can play all over the field and is a great tackler.
