Notes:
- Who is Josh Allen? He’s one of the hottest QB prospects shooting up draft boards everywhere. The Wyoming redshirt sophomore and former JUCO transfer has the ideal size that NFL scouts crave in a quarterback at 6’5, 222, and has an elite arm. From the clips I’ve seen of him (and it’s not much), he has a strong arm, is very accurate on the run, and has ideal mobility and has the ability to escape pass rushers and make plays. Could he go higher than 13 where I have him? That remains to be seen, but I have him landing with the Cardinals for now as a project QB who they can groom for a year behind Carson Palmer.
- I’m on record as saying I think Michigan star Jabrill Peppers is overrated as a prospect. He’s to small to play linebacker in the NFL, bringing up the question of where you play him. He is most likely a safety, yet he struggles in pass coverage. If my mock was based on what I would do, he wouldn’t be in the first round, but I have him at 30 to the Chiefs due to a possible need at safety if Eric Berry leaves.
- This is a very strong defensive draft class, with the deepest positions being pass rushers and secondary positions. There is a lot of talent at tight end and running back in this class as well, but the positions are still somewhat undervalued, thus why only 3 players from those positions are in the 1st round.
