On Saturday night Conor McGregor took down rival Nate Diaz on UFC 202. The fight went all 5 rounds and came down to a judge’s decisions in which McGregor was crowned winner.
In the days leading up to the fight, the bad blood between the two was ridiculous. In an interview, they started throwing water bottles at each other… Altercations like this built suspense for the fight.

When the fight began, McGregor got off to an electric start, knocking Diaz to the ground several times only to summon him back to his feet. He took the first round, but Diaz strongly countered in the second. Third round went to Diaz because he landed 58 punches to McGregor’s 26. However, McGregor won the final two rounds in the clinch to win the fight.

In my opinion, McGregor deserved to be crowned winner because his leg kick was simply a devastating asset the whole match. Also, his punching combos were smooth and he landed more than Diaz. However, I believe that McGregor passed on several opportunities for a knockout in the first round that could have ended the fight swiftly, which is something he needs to review.

At the end of the fight, they unanimously stated that there would be a third fight between them at some point in time. However, this will be fought on McGregor’s terms at 155lbs and McGregor will certainly beat up Diaz in his own weight class, in which he's the champion. The whole UFC community and fans look forward to the rubber match between the two.
