The Nets had just won six games in a row, and some were claiming they were one of the hottest teams in the league. Well, let me first disclaim that take. The Nets had beaten (in order) the Celtics, Rockets, Magic, Kings, Magic again, and then the Knicks. If your win streak consists of Orlando not once, but TWICE, then it's time to pump the brakes on calling you a hot team.
Luckily none of that even matters, because on the finale of this incredibly over-hyped "Brooklyn Monday" series the Celtics iced down the apparently red hot Nets 112-104.
This was a bounce-back game for the Celtics. After losing to Golden State on Saturday night, this was a big weight off their shoulders. Getting back into the win column is always a great feeling.
Marcus Smart led the way for the Celtics. He finished with 21 points, 7 assists, and 5 (yes, you read that correctly) steals. This guy is the absolute HEARTBEAT of this green team. Throw in the fact that he's been making his 3-pointers, and yikes! Watch out league.
Jaylen Brown was right behind him. Scoring 21 points from the bench on 9-16 shooting.
Al Horford was aggressive tonight, which we all LOVE to see. He absolutely FILLED the stat sheet tonight.
14 points, 11 rebounds, 6 blocks, and 5 assists for him in the win.
Other notables include:
Aron Baynes w/ 16 points
Terry Rozier w/ 14 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists
Marcus Morris w/ 15 points and 8 rebounds
No Kyrie Irving tonight, no problem. This was a big bounce-back win for Boston. They are now 31-19 on the year.
They'll host Charolette Wednesday night @ 7:30pm
I smell a win streak brewing.
