The 2013-2014 season for the Celtics was a terrible season. The roster featured names like Jeff Green, Gerald Wallace, Keith Bogans, MarShon Brooks, Kris Humphries, Jordan Crawford, and more. I'd tell you to look up the roster for yourself, but I don't want you getting sick to your stomach while reading. They were in a terrible state.
One thing to keep in mind is that Celtics fans did not truly recognize the magnitude of the trading for Brooklyn's picks. They were more concerned with how much they'd miss Piece. Or miss Garnett. So, at that point in time, there was little to no hope in Boston as far as the Celtics were concerned. That team won 25 games and lost 57.
Now, I am not here to bore you with the process of the rebuild. I am simply displaying how incredible it is that the Celtics have gone from a roster featuring the names above to the roster we are seeing today.
They went from a starting lineup of:
To a lineup now constructed of:
Jaylen Brown/Marcus Smart
Marcus Morris/Jayson Tatum
That is incredible to say the least.
The Celtics highest scorer during the '13-'14 season was Jeff Green, who dropped a whopping 16 points per game...
Brad Stevens and those BKN picks sure worked out for Trader Danny. As the Celtics are now, at least in my opinion, the best team in the Eastern Conference.
Again, like the title states. The Celtics STUNK then... and now they simply don't
