Big sigh of relief from Patriots fans, players, coaches, and Jimmy "Football" Garoppolo himself. Garoppolo was doubted by many. In most minds, this week one game was apparently the game the Patriots had no chance of winning. With Gronk, Lewis, Nink, Solder, Volmer, and others on the sideline, and Tom Brady no where near the stadium, Jimmy Football was still able to play his butt of and pull out a W in week one for the Pats.
The minute I realized Garoppolo was going to be just fine was when he connected with off-season acquisition wide-out Chris Hogan on 37 yard pass, catch, and run for a TD.
I am now completely confident in the next three games. Jimmy Football could definitely bring the Pats to a 4-0 record before Brady returns.
The biggest thing I can honestly take away from his performance is that he never seemed rattled or out of place. Like i said, he was calm, cool, and collected. He did not look like a first time starter. Most guys in his situation probably would look timid, scared, hesitant, and such. That is, especially when going up against the Arizona defense. Jimmy Football did his job.
So just remember the name Jimmy Football...
I think it is fitting...
