Jaylen Brown, just 21 years old as of yesterday, is becoming a star in just his second year in the league. In an average of 34 minutes played, Jaylen is contributing 19 points and 6 rebounds a game. He has also notched two 20+ point games in just four games this season.
There is no sign that this kid will cool off. He is getting the minutes and getting the usage. He is confidently taking shots and going to the rim aggressivley as well.
I would like to point out that Brown, in four games, has had two incredibly difficult matchups. Both offensively and defensively. In fact, they were his first two games. Meaning, if he didn't play well, it could've dictated the season for him (in a sense).
In the Celtics first game, Brown had the pleasure of guarding and being guarded by LeBron James, ever heard of him? I'd say that is a tough match up. Brown still poured in 25 points while grabbing 6 boards.
Then in the very next game on the very next day, Brown faced off against Giannis Antetokounmp, one of, if not the best players in the league this 2017-18 season. Brown totaled 18 points and 5 boards in that tough matchup as well.
Then we take it to last night, his birthday night. Jaylen Brown was on fire. He dropped 23 points, and do to the blowout, sat the latter points in the game.
Though it is a small sample size, it is clear that this kid is something special. Like the title states, he is becoming a star. I am not here saying Jaylen Brown is an NBA star just yet. Again, small sample size. It is too early to judge completely.
Either way, it is just his second year in the league. This kid is going to be something special.
