With all of the top prospects moved in trades the last few years, Red Sox nation tends to panic. We try to remember we still have Jason Groome who was projected to go #1 overall last year, slid to the Red Sox with the 12th overall pick.
He finally had his much anticipated debut in single A Greenville, and it went horribly wrong. Lefthander Jason Groome, left his season debut for Single A Greenville on Monday night after just 1⅓ innings in which he allowed nine runs on seven hits and three walks. He appeared to come off the mound with some pain, grimacing his way back to the dugout. According to team officials he was dealing with mild lat soreness, which hopefully was the reason he was so ineffective in his debut. I fully expect him to be a dominant force in the future, this is just the first bump in the road. I think we will see him in either late 2018, or 2019 on a major league squad.
