"Do you look at the Celtics as a long-term destination for you? Or are you taking it year-by-year?"
"Well, I mean I know that question is going to come up a lot over the next year, just based upon where my deal is," Irving responded. "And, you know, that time will arise and when it does, I think I'll have a better, clear, concise answer for a lot of people that are going to ask. Yeah, I just have to take it as being present with the Boston Celtics. You know, and just going into this year with the mindset of trying to win a championship."
He could be asked what his favorite TV show is, and he'd beat around the bush until it sounded like he loved every second of every mediocre re-run and at the same time that he'd never turned on a TV in his life. He just does that. He tries to be overly philosophical, and just downright confusing in interviews. You are always left scratching your head.
Just like Celtics fans are today...
So like I said, there is no need to read too much into this. Kyrie Irving will most likely at least test the waters when his contract is up, I mean, who wouldn't. You literally get wined, dined, and treated like absolute royalty.
He is going to test the market, but end up in Boston. End of story.
I am not worried about it at all. Kyrie even said "this is just the beginning" after he went down with his season-ending surgery.
