On the next drive, Sony Michel ran the ball on a wildcat play for a 27 yard touchdown to give the Bulldogs the Rose Bowl win and a chance to face Alabama in the National Championship.
The Rose Bowl offensive MVP, Sony Michel, would finish the game with 181 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns as well as 4 catches for 41 yards and a receiving touchdown.
Oklahoma came out firing on all cylinders in the first half, leading by as many as 17. Oklahoma would be up 31-17 heading into the second half. Georgia was able to make a quick comeback in the second half with the help of a 50-yard rushing touchdown by Georgia running back Nick Chubb. Georgia would eventually take back the lead 38-31 in the fourth quarter.
Chubb finished the game with 14 carries for 145 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Things would change in the 4th quarter when Heisman Trophy winner, Baker Mayfield, drove the ball down field and connected with fullback Dimitri Flowers for an 11-yard touchdown to tie the game up at 38.
Baker Mayfield finished the game going 23-of-35 for 287 yards and 2 touchdowns, 1 interception, as well as a touchdown reception in the 3rd quarter.
The next Georgia drive, Michel would drop a fumble which would be scooped up by Oklahoma linebacker Steven Parker for a 46-yard fumble return for a touchdown to give Oklahoma the lead once again.
Georgia would come back once again storming down the field and finishing with a 2-yard touchdown run by running back Nick Chubb to send the game to overtime at 45-45.
After consecutive field goals in the first overtime by both teams, Oklahoma would get their field goal blocked and let up a game winning rushing touchdown to send Georgia to the National Championship.
This game will go down as one of the greatest college football games we’ve ever seen, which will hopefully lead to a great SEC Matchup in the National Championship. Georgia has proved their worth all season and this Rose Bowl win is another example of how talented this team can be. The question now is do they have the ability to go up against Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide?
