Enough is Enough, and It's Time For A Change (Red Sox David Price and Dennis Eckersley Fight)7/24/2017 By: Chris Wehner After reading the Dan Shaughnessy's article on the Price/Eck incident from a few weeks ago, I can UNDOUBTEDLY say that I've lost respect for not only the Red Sox Organization, but for whoever the players were who participated in such disrespect of not only a media member, but a media member who happens to be a Major League Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher. People can argue "well you don't know what the players go through, "blah blah blah" shut the fuck up. I don't give a shit if they're established MLB players who make ridiculous salaries to begin with. If they don't know what the word RESPECT means and realize like in everyday life, if you have an issue with someone handle it privately like a man.
By lashing out and applauding and telling a fellow MLB player to "GTFO" makes you look like a real asshole. And you know what's even funnier about this? The players who were involved will probably bitch about how the article put a bad light on them...GOOD! I HOPE IT DOES. Now for the people who will read this and say "well it shouldn't have been leaked" "yada yada yada" "the media is wrong in this"...you're an idiot. It's 2017, nothing stays private anymore. I'm sure there's some readers out there who recently told someone something "private" or to "keep it to themselves" and shockingly it wasn't kept private. It HAPPENS, that's life. As a fan and long-time ticket holder I'm appalled. How about instead of worrying what a Hall of Famer (who can say whatever the hell they want about a player because guess what guys? THEY'RE A HALL OF FAMER FOR A REASON) said about a player, you take the constructive criticism and you man up. Take the negative and turn it into a positive on and off the field. Simple as that. I cannot wait for the 2018 season to get here so David "Prima Donna" Price can opt-out of his contract and head somewhere else because it's been made clear that he would care more about what the media says than focus on being the "Ace" that he was signed to be. If you sneeze around him, he'd probably go on a tantrum and bitch and moan. My expectations for the rest of Red Sox season...I don't have any honestly. I think Devers will succumb to the pressure of trying to jumpstart this offense (who clearly is getting called-up to provide just that) and will eventually head back to Triple-A to develop. I think Price will somehow find his way into the media spotlight again and go on a "the media sucks" blah blah blah. Now I expect a lot of backlash from this article from die-hard Sox fans, which is rightfully understood. But before you hide behind your twitter or computer read Dan Shaughnessy's article and then talk to me and see how you feel about it. Until then....is it hockey season yet? photo: (Boston Globe) |
