The Celtics were able to beat the Mavericks in regulation this time... However, it was no walk in the park. See my game reap below.
The Boston Celtics vs Dallas Mavericks game (December 6, 2017) went back and forth for just about the entire first quarter. Kyrie Irving started off well putting in 8 points for the green. But that wasn't enough to capture the edge in the first, as the Mavs lead 26-24 after one.
Yogi Ferrell made it tough for the Celtics for a while. As did the rest of the Mavericks cast. Coming into the game as a team that was not known for being a great 3-point shooting squad, Dallas drilled in what seemed like a million of them in the first half of play.
The Mavs went into the half with a 10-point, 57-47 lead over the Celtics.
Kyrie Irving 12 points
Jayson Tatum 10 points, 7 rebounds
Al Horford 7 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists
Shane Larkin 8 points
Dennis Smith Jr 12 points
Dirk Nowitzki 9 points
Maxi Kleber 9 points, 4 blocks
Yogi Ferrell 8 points
The Celtics came out of the half on a 12-2 run to get back into the game. Jayson Tatum, Al Hordford, and of course Kyrie Irving led the charge.
Yet again, the Celtics battled back just to lose the lead at the end of the quarter. 73-70 in favor of the Mavericks heading in to the fourth quarter. Jayson Tatum with 17 points and 9 rebounds.
What a better way to start the final quarter than with a big bang from Theis.
That play jumpstarted a great Celtics run that they never truly looked back from.
Kyrie Irving 23 points, 5 assists
Jayson Tatum 17 points, 10 rebounds
Al Horford 17 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists
Terry Rozier 12 points, 9 rebounds
Final Score: Celtics 97, Mavericks 90
