The Celtics beat up on the Magic last night by a score of 104-88. This was supposed to be a matchup of two of the best Eastern Conference squads. However, it appeared the Orlando Magic were no match at all.
The Celtics defense went out and did it again. In the last 8 games, their opponent has not reached 100 points. Funny, they have also won their last eight games.
That is why they were able to pull of the W against Orlando last night even without a great performance from Kyrie Irving. Defense. The game was close for a bit, but the defense kicked in and there was no turning back.
Now, Celtics fans, do not sit there and tell yourself Irving played bad. In fact, to me, he actually played pretty well. I know it is weird seeing the best player on a team only score 11 points, but he really wasn't terrible. He was doing every single thing the team needed him to do last night.
The Celtics did not need Kyrie Irving to score last night. They needed him to run an offense, control the game, and to facilitate. Which he did.
Let's see if the Celtics can stretch their win streak to 9 games tonight, as they face off against the Atlanta Hawks.
