It was informally announced today, November 7, 2017, that the Boston Bruins and Chicago Blackhawks will be playing in the Bridgestone 2019 NHL Winter Classic at Notre Dame Stadium.
If this stands, this will be the Blackhawks fourth time playing in the Winter Classic and the Bruins third time. Since the start of the Winter Classic, TV ratings and viewers have gone down drastically. The 2017 Classic had a rating of 1.5 and had 2.56 million viewers. The Blackhawks have lost all three of their previous Winter Classic games while the Boston Bruins beat the Flyers in overtime in 2010 at Fenway Park and lost to the Montreal Canadiens 5-1 at Gillette Stadium.
Let’s take a look at both teams previous Winter Classic uniforms, we’ll start with the Boston Bruins.
The 2010 uniform was fantastic. It reminds me of the Providence Bruins uniforms today actually.
Many people weren’t a fan of the 2015 Classic uniform but I have to say, the uniform grew on me and I absolutely love it.
The Hawks uniform in 2009 was hands down one of my favorites.
There wasn’t much to talk about with the 2015 jerseys. They looked like the away jerseys.
These jerseys were also not too special but better than 2015.
It’ll be interesting to see what Adidas does with the 2019 Winter Classic uniforms.
