This is part 1 of my Boston Celtics Predictions. Like I did last year, I will be releasing a about 3-5 prediction pieces prior to the start of the NBA season. This will focus on the regular season performance and outcome of the Boston Celtics. Stay tuned, as the next few installments will feature something along the lines of, The Playoff Push, Who Will Rise and Shine?, and The Underwhelmers.
The C's are coming off of a great regular season. Winning 53 games, and landing the top spot in the East is no easy task. However, a great deal has changed since last season.
The Celtics are only returning 4 players from that 53-win team (Smart, Horford, Rozier, Brown). That said, there could be some chemistry building still to be done.
That said, I do not think the Celtics get back to a 53-win total, unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, this is not saying they aren't a better team entering this season.
I predict the Celtics will win 51 games, making their record 51-31.
Why the downtick in wins? Well, first off, it is just 2 less wins than the year prior. Realistically, I think this team is far from gelling like last year's squad. Therefor, I am predicting they still win over 50 games, just not 53.
The Celtics had a great home record last season. 30-11 was the second best Eastern Conference home record in 2016-17, only behind the Cavs at 31-10. This year, I believe that home record will rise to 31-10. This team is going to be a force to reckon with when playing at The Garden.
By process of elimination and reasoning by deduction you can now gather that I predict the road record to drop to 20-21. This is solely based on the fact that this team is relatively new and also young. It may take more then a year for them to become a rock solid team on the road.
That'll do it for part 1 of the new season on Boston Celtics Predictions. Let me know what you think.
Again, stay tuned for what is to come.
