I will be the first to say, "This is as good as Avery Bradley is going to get." I constant think he is at his peak. Well overall in this 2016-17 season thus far, Bradley is proving me wrong yet again...
For some reason I have never bought into the Avery Bradley hype. Point guard, defensive specialist turned into a defensive shooting guard. There are plenty of those guys...I wanted a guy that could take the ball and go put it in the hoop. Well, it looks like I got what I wanted. Bradley is now a two-way shooting guard. In fact, I feel that he is one of the best two-way guards in the league. Hell, this guy may be a three-way guard with the rebounding numbers he is putting up.
This is a guy that I believed to have no upside. I would tell people, "This is it. His stock is as high as it'll ever be." Lo and behold he just keeps climbing the metaphorical latter. By doing so, he continues to prove nay-sayers wrong.
Everyone knows the guy can defend to an elite level, but he has completely ridden himself of his knock coming out of college. He could not shoot entering the NBA. In his first season with the Celtics, Bradley took only five three point attempts, making none of them. Half way through his ongoing career, in 2013-14 (just three years later), Bradley attempted 200 threes in 60 games and made 40% of them. Now in 2016-15 bradley is already shooting +40% from deep and has already taken just under 100 in the 12 games played.
Now, what those statistics illustrate to me is a player that is constantly gaining confidence in his offense. That confidence is most likely the reason he keeps getting better.
Bradley has been in the league seven years. He has constantly gotten better, even when I think it is impossible. Now, do I dare say it again... Is this as good as Avery Bradley will get? I will keep my lips sealed for the time being...
