Are The Celtics A Good 3-Point Shooting Team? How Do The B’s Match-Up Against Potential 1st Round Foes? Why Is This UNC Championship Arguably the Most Significant? This and Much Much More!

Live by the 3, die by the 3. Isaiah & Avery Bradley going 1-11 from 3 -point range against Cleveland last night was certainly not the recipe for success. If the Celtics are to win their first playoff series since 2012, they must realize that they are not even an above average 3-point shooting team. For the season, the C’s rank 15th in the NBA in 3-point shooting percentage (35.9 %), despite being 3rd in total attempts per game (33). The only teams that take more 3-point attempts per game are Cleveland and Houston. Call me crazy, but this Celtics team should not be taking more 3’s per game than the Golden State Warriors.
Looking ahead to the playoffs, it should be noted that the Celtics are 4-0 against the Heat this season, 3-0 versus Indiana, 2-1 versus Chicago, and 1-1 against both Atlanta and Milwaukee.
On the other side of the coin, the Bruins are 1-4 against Toronto, 1-2 versus Pittsburgh, 0-2 against Washington, and 0-3 versus the Rangers and Senators.
Quiz of the week…As Tony Romo transitions into broadcasting at 36 years old, he would have been the 4th oldest QB to start on NFL kickoff weekend. Who are the 3 current QB’s older than him? Answer near the bottom of the column.
Looking into Peter Gammons crystal ball, arguably the greatest baseball writer alive has the Red Sox losing the AL East to Toronto, still making the playoffs through the Wild Card, then losing to Cleveland in the ALCS.
Speaking of the Red Sox, with 18 out of 25 April games against Detroit, Baltimore, Toronto, Yankees, and Cubs, don’t be surprised if the Sox don’t exactly light the world on fire out of the gate, despite their two recent wins against Pittsburgh.
While I would consider giving a limb for the opportunity to see AP in a Pats jersey, there is something to be said for a running back who has had proven success in your system and although the Patriots don’t hand out contracts for past performance, LeGarrette Blount has at least one or two good seasons left in his 30-year old legs. $2 mill per year for 2 years should be enough to get the deal done.
Despite their recent winning streak, the Brooklyn Nets still have a 25% chance to win the 2017 NBA Draft Lottery. Following the Nets are the Suns at 19.9% and the Lakers at 15.6%.
1, 0, 2, 0 – the number of goals per game that Tuukka Rask has given up since his 6-3 shelling against Tampa on March 23rd.
For my money, the face of MLB is Bryce Harper, whether I like it or not.
Where it really matters, North Carolina just broke a tie with Duke for their 6th National Championship trophy, however, both UNC and Kentucky, the second leading school with 8, still have a way to go before catching up with UCLA, who has won 11 national championships.
With that said, the real madness of March was the UConn Woman’s team getting upset in the final four. Despite their loss, the lady huskies still haven’t lost back-to-back games in 24 years!!!
Word is that the asking Price for Richard Sherman is a “very good” player and a “high” draft pick and that Raiders are the team currently in talks for the Seahawks Pro Bowl corner.
In case you missed it, 43-year old Bartolo Colon pitched 6 innings and gave up 1 run on 2 hits in the Braves extra inning win over the Mets last night. At the same time, Colon still has a way to go before touching Jamie Moyer’s record for oldest pitcher to record a major-league victory, at 49-years old in 2012.
Schools Patrick Ewing will have to compete against for local DC recruits: Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and VCU just to name a few in the surrounding area. Best of luck to “The Hoya Destroya”.
