Are you looking to start off the Fantasy season strong? Check out my players who you should be starting, and the players you should consider sitting. (Players such as Aaron Rodgers and Antonio Brown should be started each week regardless of match up).
Anytime someone is going against the Browns, you should not have any problem starting them. In this case, Roethlisberger has a great chance to end up as the top Fantasy Quarterback this week. With Le'Veon Bell returning to camp, the Steelers offense just became much more dangerous. Alongside Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant is one of the up and coming stars of this league. Oh and it helps that Joe Haden is no longer on the Cleveland Browns.
The reigning MVP has all the weapons needed in order to be in consideration for yet another deep playoff run. It helps that Matty Ice is going up against the depleted Bears defense. If you have Matt Ryan, this should be the easiest decision you make all season. Ryan will end up scoring in the top 5 in week 1.
After winning the Quarterback battle in Houston, there is a lot of speculation on when rookie Deshaun Watson will end up starting. Yes i agree he will be the started by mid season, Savage has earned the right to go out under center week 1. Is this the week to start him? No way. A well improved defense with young talents such as Myles Jack, and Jalen Ramsey, this isn't the game to go Texans heavy. Lets not forget the Jaguars top corner A.J. Bouye just signed a monster contract in the off season. He came from Houston.
"Fantasy" Phil has been one of the most consistently average Fantasy Quarterback for quite some time. In this week i believe he will be below average. The Broncos D has been either first or second the past 2 years. They ranked 4th or better in fumble recoveries, yards allowed, sacks, and points allowed, They also had nine top 10 finishes to finish the year. Look for Rivers to struggle early and often on Monday Night.
I know what you are thinking. He was an absolute bust last year. While i agree, the addition of Sammy Watkins, and Cooper Kupp end up helping Gurley the mightily. It helps they are going up against the Colts run defense. Gurley is going to be the focus point of this offense, meaning he is going to get 20+ touches a game. Look for Gurley to get more involved in the passing game, as he has shown before at Georgia. A RB1 is a lock for Todd Gurley and the Rams.
The rookie has earned the starting spot, and i do not believe he will be giving it up any time soon. Instead of acquiring RB Adrian Peterson, the Saints should have focused on Defense. They ranked 30th last season in Fantasy points and only let up less than 20 points twice all season. In an offense that will be very balanced, i believe the Vikings will take their shots to Rudolph and Diggs, but Dalvin Cook will see his share of touches, and produce for his fantasy owners.
When healthy, Hyde has proven to be a workhorse for the 49ers. The best ability in sports is availability and Hyde has not been that. He has yet to play a full season, and contribute the way owners are praying for. The Panthers Defense is no joke. The acquisitions of Julius Peppers, and Mike Adams make this defense even more scary. While Hyde will get his touches, the 49ers offense will produce very little, as they lack a major position. Quarterback.
There is a lot of buzz surrounding the favorable match up of Rodgers vs the Dolphins. I am not in on the "buzz". While Doug Martin is serving his 3 game suspension, the Bucs have handed off duties to Rodgers. While i think he could be a somewhat valuable at the flex position at best, the use of Charles Sims on third downs is really what makes me hesitant. Especially against a tough front with Suh at the helm, Rodgers should not be plugged into any starting lineups week 1.
When the Colts Head Coach Chuck Pagano released information stating their top cover corner Vontae Davis will miss a couple weeks, Watkins owners eyes should light up. When healthy, Watkins has shown he can be a very exciting WR1. With a Colts D that is sub-par, If Goff can play well, so can Watkins. Expect a big day out of Watkins in his first game as a Ram.
After a 2015 season left Hopkins as the 4th ranked receiver in fantasy points, 2016 was a nightmare for everyone who fell into the trap. Without a consistent Quarterback, Hopkins could not get into a groove last year, which made him fall in many drafts this year. If you were to draft him, he should be a starter not just week 1, but every week. Here's why. Hopkins is going to be force fed targets. Who is going to take away from his catches? Jaelen Strong? Braxton Miller? No. With the chemistry that has been shown between him and QB Tom Savage. I believe Hopkins is going to have a year like he is capable of doing. Top 8 WR numbers are a definite possibility, and i predict them to come true.
What a ride it has been for Keenan Allen. Not a fun one. Allen has shown he can compete with anyone in the league, and excel. One thing that has been holding him back. Freak Injuries. Can you think of a better welcome back gift then having to face the Broncos D week 1? I can. 31 other defenses. While i think if healthy Keenan Allen can have a good year, it does not start week 1.
Hill has shown he can be as explosive as anyone in the league. He can catch the ball, run the ball, and return the ball. For what he was worth in fantasy drafts, he has bust written all over him. He is going into his first year as a number one receiver, and barely had much success with it last year. He had 0 100 yard games, and most of his fantasy points came on a big catch or run. In games where he finished with over 15 fantasy points. he had 2 carries for over 50 yards and a touchdown. While he has big play potential, i believe Gilmore and Butler will lock him down easily. It doesn't help he is not returning kicks anymore per Andy Reid.
There are two guys in the NFL that are as consistent as can be. Larry Fitzgerald, and Greg Olsen. In a preseason that Cam Newton threw just 2 passes, i believe Olsen will have a big game. Short routes have been Olsen's forte for a while now. Playing against a 49er defense, Olsen should rack up 7+ catches, and lead the game in receiving.
If you are looking for someone to score touchdowns ,Eifert is your guy. Let's take a look at the numbers Eifert has put up when healthy last year. 9 catches for 102 yards and a touchdown. 5 catches for 48 yards and 2 touchdowns. See the trend? Eifert is the red zone threat of the Bengals. While they have A.J. Green, the Bengals have been known to use the middle of the field ,where Eifert lines up. In a tough division game, look for Dalton to check down to Eifert and for him to reach the end zone AT LEAST once.
One thing hurt Delanie Walker. Talent. What i mean by this is that the Titans offense got a lot more dangerous with the acquisitions of Decker and Davis. No longer will Walker be a number one option, as the wide outs are going to get more targets. The Raiders defense features a linebacker core that is going to do whatever it takes for Walker to be shut down.
While Henry has shown that he can be pretty reliable to Rivers, he is still the second option at the position. Veteran Antonio Gates is still playing, and is still seeing a good volume of targets. Can you see the trend? They are playing the Broncos. No good.
