We are back for the fourth edition, and fourth week, of The Road to Golf series. Before getting into this episode I wanted to thank you, the readers, for your incredible support and interaction with these articles. I also wanted to thank TaylorMade for the TP5 golf balls. I will be either writing a review or including a review in one of these installments shortly!
Alrighty, so what is on the agenda today? Well, let me preface all of those by saying I have played pretty bad golf for the past couple weeks. I couldn't find what I was doing wrong until I sat back and realized: I am out here to have fun.
It was then that I was able to think about it and realize this is just a game. Don't take it tio seriously. That being said, it is great to love it and take it very seriously, but it isn't like your life depends on it. I am not writing these articles for Jordan Spieth, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, or any other PGA professional whose life actually does depend on their performance. I am writing this for YOU. The golfer that loves golf for what it is, or wants to love golf.
The question arises, how do you get yourself to have fun? Sounds simple, sounds pointless, sounds unnecessary. However, most golfers don’t realize that can be the reason they are playing so poorly. It is a game, end of story.
You cannot overthink your shots, rounds, or game in general.
Think about the rounds that you play well in. Are you enjoying yourself? Your answer is most likely, yes. Now think about your bad rounds... you were probably feeling pretty crappy.
Now think about the idea of being able to control that before you even tee off.
Just have fun - your round will follow suit.
Always remember, golf is just a game.
Thanks again to all who have checked out the series! If you have not read parts 1, 2, or 3, head over and do so now.
