With the release of Madden 18 less than a month away, EA Sports has begun to gradually leak out individual player ratings. Although most players religiously play Madden Ultimate Team, a mode in which users collect and use cards of different tiers and values to compete online, it is still exciting to note how good the developers think big name players truly are within the regular game rosters.
Coming off the greatest Super Bowl performance in NFL history, Tom Brady has cemented himself as the greatest QB to ever play the sport of football. Rightfully so, Brady appears as this year’s cover athlete and boasts a 99 overall rating. Some fans are worried about the “Madden Curse”, a superstition surrounding various injuries to Madden cover athletes over the years. In a video, Brady assured fans that the curse is nothing more than a myth and that he will be playing football until he is 75 years old.
Last year’s cover athlete, Rob Gronkowski, will see a slight drop in his rating this year, going from a 99 to a 98. However, he is still the best TE in the game and, of course, the league. Injuries have plagued him, but he has decided to inherit Brady’s method of staying healthy, a regimen which has kept Brady injury-free since his 2008 ACL and MCL tear.
Madden 18 releases August 25, 2017.
