Judge, Stanton, and Sanchez at the heart of the Yankees' order makes me nauseous just thinking about it, I can't imagine what they're going to do to pitchers across the league.
Stanton in pinstripes is the stuff of nightmares. Seeing him face the Red Sox would be one thing, even if it was in-division, even better, I get to watch him 19 times a year. Anywhere but the Yankees! I think this was Jeter's diabolical plan all along.
Bringing Stanton to the Yankees will pair both 2017's league leaders in home runs. The most home runs ever hit by a pair of teammates came back in 1961 when Roger Maris hit 61 to break Babe Ruth's 34-year-old HR record and Mantle blasted 54 of his own. Together they produced a whopping 115 homers. Had Judge and Stanton played together last year, they would have combined for 111, second most in history. Now they'll both be playing 81 games a year at Yankee Stadium, which ranked 2nd in the league in park factor home runs. Stanton's previous home in Miami ranked 25th. Stanton is about to be the first player to hit 100 home runs in a season.
The worst part of it all is how were going to be reminded, almost daily, how gigantic both these players are. Get ready for a full list of every baseball, football, and basketball player these guys are bigger than. I'll bet a full year's salary we'll see a chart of how many Stanton's and Judge's it would take to reach the top of the Empire State Building. The graphics guys for every sports station are going to have a field day with that and I'm already sick of it.
The Red Sox weren't even in the running for Ohtani and didn't manage to lure Stanton. Dombrowski better have a few tricks up his sleeve, because the Yankees are back and ready to kill.
