Tuukka Rask and the Boston Bruins held their ground strong this week as they grabbed all possible six points against the Nashville Predators, Dallas Stars, and Florida Panthers. With the Carolina Hurricanes, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Islanders, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Ottawa Senators all looking to break the postseason, these six points were crucial for the Black and Gold’s playoff hopes.
Three Stars of the Week:
★★★ Noel Acciari
★★ Brad Marchand
★ Tuukka Rask
- Noel Acciari has been a key factor to the fourth line’s recent fire. His physical play and great hockey IQ has been paying off. Acciari notched his first NHL goal last Tuesday night against the Nashville Predators. The goal came when Riley Nash picked up the puck along the boards in the defensive zone as Acciari and Stafford found themselves on a 3 on 1 situation against Predators’ D, Mattias Ekholm. Ekholm tried to prevent the pass from Nash coming down on the left wing and laid out, but Nash was able to maneuver the puck around Ekholm and out of Rinne’s reach to a crashing Noel Acciari who shot the puck home over Rinne’s left shoulder for his first ever goal. Acciari scored again in Saturday’s win against the Florida Panthers.
- With two goals and two assists this week, Brad Marchand deserves second star of the week. He now finds himself tied for third on the point leader board with 84 points and second on the list for goal leaders with 39; four goals behind Sidney Crosby. Four games remain for the Marchand and the Bruins and hopefully he can pass Crosby and run away with the lead.
- Tuukka Rask went 3-0 this week despite recent struggles. He stepped up in crucial times and surprising did not fake a stomach ache and bail out. With his start against Florida today, Khudobin gets between the pipes tomorrow against Chicago.
