The Red Sox look like they have got it together. I was impressed with their play throughout the entirety of the season opener. Yes there were a few things that seemed iffy, but all in all the team seems to be off to a great start. Check the end of the article for my season prediction.
So I will start off by saying the David Ortiz void was not as apparent to me as it was to some people. I thought the offense looked sharp. They really looked good. Had Ortiz never dug his cleats into the batters box prior to this season, we would not be saying anything like this. They still seemed to flow throughout the order.
Porcello, Porcello, Porcello. Everyone thought you were going to suck this year man. Well, safe to say (at least in my mind) you shut them up. Even though giving up those 3 earned runs, Pretty Ricky looked good. Barnes was the real cause of those runs anyhow. I thought Porcello seemed to be firing on most cylinders.
PABLO! Damn. Panda man looked pretty good. ESPECIALLY hustling down the line. Hey, if he can play well for the rest of the season that will only add to what seems to be the start of something special. I will say that Pablo seriously proved me wrong. However, there is still plenty to be played...
Andrew Benny man you are awesome. It is so fitting that Benintendi goes deep in the opener. All of the off season talk was filled with how he has added size and power. Well, boom. There you have it. The power was definitely present yesterday with the 3-run dinger. Let us also make note of his multiple-run saving catch out in left field. Keep up the good work. With the B's out there, this could turn into an unbelievably special outfield.
Those were the three highlights of the day for me. These indicators were signs of the bright season ahead. Think about it. All off season we were talking about the Papi void, Porcello matching last year, Pablo's play, and Benintendi's impact. With those things looking good, or even great, there is no reason to think anything other than this will be a great season for the Red Sox.
Now just let me touch on my prediction for the rest of the season. I will go into great detail...
The Boston Red Sox will win the World Series. Sweeping their foe.
